Who We Are & What We Do

VITA Loveland * is a Northern Colorado provider for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs. Under the direction of the Internal Revenue Service, these nationwide programs are designed to help low- and moderate-income taxpayers complete their annual tax returns at no cost. Our volunteers are trained and re-certified in tax law every year, using IRS-provided materials and standard tests.

We collaborate with many VITA/TCE programs statewide through the Colorado Community Action Association and Colorado VITA as well as the MakeChangeNoCo sites in Fort Collins and Windsor. For more information about MakeChangeNoCo, please visit MakeChangeNoCo or contact them at 970-599-1765.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to provide year-round, free tax return preparation and education for low- and middle-income families, individuals and seniors. Our tax preparation and education services help the financially vulnerable avoid predatory service providers, while helping them improve their knowledge and personal financial capabilities.

Community Impact:

In Northern Colorado, during the 2021 tax filing season, we prepared nearly 2,500 federal and state returns, saving taxpayers an estimated $375,000 in preparation fees and helping them claim more than $2,000,000 in total refunds. The estimated economic impact exceeded $3.3 million.

We collaborate with other agencies to provide comprehensive services and education for families working to achieve financial self-sufficiency. Since 2016, we’ve maintained a year-round presence in the House of Neighborly Service Life Center in Loveland, as one of only a few year-round VITA/TCE sites in the Front Range area.
